Nowadays, many students in Hong Kong consider studying abroad after completing Secondary Three. The students and their parents think that it may be the best choice to have senior grade of education in foreign countries. In this essay, I may look at some of the arguments for and against studying abroad after completing Secondary Three.

One argument in favour of studying aboard after completing Secondary Three is that students could learn to be independent. No friends and family members are being with them, therefore students need to take care and do all the housework by themselves .For example, students have to prepare meals and wash their own clothes. It is good for students to be independent at an earlier stage.

Another advantage is that students could experience foreign culture. They have to live in that country and try the food that the local people eat like herbs and different kind of vegetables. They could also talk to foreigners to learn more about the country such as the history, culture and the habits of the people. This special experience could broaden their minds and hence make them have a better understanding of the world.

From the above, we could see that there are clearly advantages in studying abroad. However, there are also some disadvantages.

The first advantage is that students may face discrimination. Since they may look different from the others and have different habits, culture and mother languages, bully cases may happen easily. Local students may not like to play with them or they may even treat the students from other countries haughtily. For this reason, students may get hurt because Form Three students are not strong enough to protect themselves. As a result, it is not sensible of parents to send their kids to study abroad at their young age.

Another disadvantage is that students may not adapt to a new environment. The lifestyle between two countries is different such as food, culture, weather and living styles. It may be entirely different from where they are used to live in. It is not easy for them to change their lifestyle in a sudden.

In conclusion, there are both advantages and disadvantages to studying abroad after completing Secondary Three. Although, it may be a hard time at the beginning, I think teenagers can overcome that in no time. Therefore, I believe, on balance, the advantages of studying abroad after completing Form Three outweigh the disadvantages.
