Title: Stallion By Starlight
Author: Mary Pope Osborne
Publisher: Random House
The story began on a warm day in June. Jack and Annie was going on a mission
to find out the secret of gentleness for Alexander the Great. They found him very bossy,
impolite and not great at all! To teach him what gentleness was, they used the magic
power that Merlin, their master had given to them to be a horse trainer. They turned a
horse who lost his master from pessimistic to optimistic. With the help of Jack and
Annie, Alexander realized the secret of gentleness was being humble from how they
used gentleness to train the horse.
Being great doesn’t mean that we need to go around bragging about ourselves all
the time. Sometimes, we can be great in gentleness too. In the story, Jack and Annie
became horse trainers to train the horse. Although they had used the power of magic,
they would not succeed if they did not listen to the horse’s needs gently. When they
knew the needs of the horse and they tried to show their caring, the horse would be
happier. When we think that we are great, such as improving in academic results or
getting a prize in a contest, we should always be gentle, but not being proud or
showing off ourselves all the time.
Sometimes, we would feel down. When someone shows his care for us, we
would be brighter. The power of being caring is great. Care can start a bright light in
darkness. In the story, Jack and Annie showed their care for the horse. They
comforted it from losing its master. The horse found the brightness in the dark finally.
It did not feel depressed anymore. Why don’t we use the power of caring to brighten
up the light in every upsetting heart? When we feed our neighbours, they would feed
us too. Always show our caring, we would feel the warmth too.
I’ve learnt a lot and am deeply inspired by this book. This is really an amazing
and a touching story. Read it to inspire yourself!
