I would like to nominate Wong Kam Po for the Person of the Year in Hong Kong.  My reasons are as follows:

1. Contribution to society
In the first place, Mr. Wong has brought much glory and honor to all Hongkongers with his talent in the field of cycling. One of the various clear examples supporting that is the fact that not only did he win a gold medal in the recent National Games held in Shangdong for the city, he is also the first and the only world champion in cycling in the territory, laying a remarkable milestone in the sports history of Hong Kong.
Furthermore, Mr. Wong cares about our society very much. For instance, he is highly appreciated for actively promoting positive values and lives to teenagers, reflecting his contribution to society.

2. Role model for young people
Mr. Wong has always been an excellent role model for the youngsters. One of the reasons is that he possesses strong determination, and he never gives up until he achieves his goal. For example, he is used to having tiring and hard training and practice for hours every day. However, he shows great tolerance and perseveres with those tasks.
Mr. Wong is also considered as a great example to the teenagers that dreams will come true one day if they run towards their goal. As an ordinary youngster living in Sha Tin, Mr. Wong was interested in cycling and worked very hard to be a good cyclist, a goal that he has achieved and recognized by the public now.

3. Symbol of Hong Kong
Being extremely tolerant and hard-working, Mr. Wong undoubtedly possesses the “Hong Kong spirit”, and is the best symbol of the territory.  Like other Hong Kong people, he is not frightened by the challenges and obstacles in his path to success, and makes great effort to make his dream come true. For this goal, Mr. Wong forgoes the time with his family and friends for practice, and eventually gets such a fruitful result now.  The story of Wong Kam Po actually happens in many places in the city with people fighting against barriers to be successful, and it is obviously the symbol of Hong Kong.
