Dear Caroline,
I’ve read the letter that you’ve written to me. You said that you ran away from home on the day of your friend’s birthday party. You also mentioned that you regret running away because it was boring. Well, let me give you some advice.
Running away from home is not a solution to a problem. Running away is just a form of procrastination. You were just avoiding the problem for a short amount of time. The problem would still be waiting for you when you went home.
Another thing, you didn’t consider the danger of running away. The streets are dark and quiet at night. There might have been a kidnapper hiding in the alley or in the shadows. You might have been robbed. You may say you were going to a safe place — your friend’s home. What if your friend wasn’t at home? What would you have done?
Lastly, you didn’t think about the feelings of your family members. I know they were worried about you. You mentioned in your letter that your father didn’t seem worried. He was only angry. Trust me, he was very worried. He couldn’t show you that he was worried, as he needed to show you that you couldn’t be easily forgiven for running away from home.
I can’t control your thoughts and acts, but if I were you, I wouldn’t have run away that night. I hope these pieces of advice can help you!
Regards,
Janie
