A Small Action Can Help the Whole World
Sirena is a secondary 3 student. Although his academic results are horrible. But because of his kindness, a lot of his classmates love making friends with him.
A week before, Sirena left school after playing basketball with his friends. When he was walking back home, he suddenly saw an old woman crying on the road. At the beginning, Sirena just wanted to ignore her, but she was crying much louder. He then went for her and asked for reason. “My son and his wife left me alone because I am old and useless. They said that it was so difficult to take care of me. I am so angry and disappointed. But what can I do? I am now an old woman with no money, no living place and no one cares about me. I am of no use to this world.” Sirena was sad. He then said to the old lady, “No worries. I will take care of you. Here is $100. I may not help you a lot, but I may try my best to satisfy your tummy.”
“Child, I don’t know who you are, but you’ve got a kind heart. You must have a good life,’ She then thanked Sirena with crying eyes and a contented smile.
Later, in the week, Sirena just use half of his pocket money for lunch and gave another half to the old woman to supply her with enough food. Some of the people who knew the old lady and Sirena’s warm-hearted action. They posted the videos onto the websites and the netizens all praised him, and this made a stir throughout Hong Kong.
Although it’s just a smaller action, Sirena made Hong Kong people be concerned about the problem of the abandonment of the aged and the caring atmosphere ‘relights’ because of his small action.
So always remember what Martin Luther King said, ‘If you can’t fly then run. If you can’t run then walk. If you can’t walk, then crawl.’ Whatever you do, no matter whether it is a tiny move or greatness sacrifice, the reason is the same: love.
