Hong Kong is “The pearl of the Orient”, “Eaters Paradise”, and “Shopping Paradise”. Those are the names and impression of Hong Kong given by tourists. But can Hong Kong maintain a good reputation?
If Hong Kong wants to maintain a good reputation, the most important thing that we need to do is to let the tourists feel that Hong Kong is a hospitable and harmonious city.
Besides, the government needs to develop more unique tourist spots. There are some famous tourist spots in Hong Kong like Ocean Park, Disneyland and Victoria Harbour etc. For Victoria Harbour, it is narrower than before and the water pollution there is more serious. For Ocean Park and Disneyland, although both of them are the famous theme parks in Hong Kong, there are not many special programmes or new facilities that can be provided for the tourists. The tourists can see similar things in other countries too. Moreover, the tourists may think that Ocean Park and Disneyland are too common. Therefore, the theme parks should have some special and unique games and facilities to attract more tourists to come and help to improve the games.
Hong Kong is known as “Eating Paradise”, and “Shopping Paradise”. The shop owners and the employees should provide the best service to the tourists. For example, the restaurants should provide the menus in English along with Chinese. And waiters should give a friendly face and wear a big smile to the customers. Also, it would be best if they can speak fluent English and Chinese and know different languages. Besides, the government should monitor the qualities of goods and prevent the shops from selling fake goods. Some tourists who come from the Mainland have ever bought some fake goods in Hong Kong and had conflicts with the shop owners.
Moreover, things in Hong Kong are more expensive than other Asian countries. Therefore, the shops and restaurants should adjust the price of things. But to solve this problem, the government should improve the economic situation first.
The problem of air pollution in Hong Kong also needs to be solved. It affects the air quality. People do not want to stay in a polluted city. Also, the smog affects the quality of night scenes. The tourists cannot enjoy the night views clearer and more extensively at the Peak.
Lastly, Hong Kong people should not treat tourists badly. If they seem to need help, we need to offer our assistance to them. Moreover, we should not discriminate against the tourists. Also, we can think that if we serve the tourists badly and rudely, will they come to Hong Kong again? How will they see Hong Kong?
