Although I am not one of the Hong Kong people, I like Hong Kong very much. I was born in Taiwan and have lived there for a few years. When I can compare Hong Kong with Taiwan, I found more advantages of Hong Kong.
First, people in Hong Kong have got a higher English standard than those in Taiwan. I need to work very hard to catch up with their English standard. Almost every Hong Kong person can speak English. If you ask for direction in English, people can reply in English fluently. However, if you ask the same question in English in Taiwan, people in Taiwan will avoid talking to you. I have had this experience in Taiwan before. Besides, the English standard of an S1 student in Hong Kong is the standard of an S6 student in Taiwan. I feel very proud of having higher English standard than the people in Taiwan.
Secondly, Hong Kong has convenient transport links. We can easily find
MTR stations or bus stops here. Also, there are many rubbish bins on the streets
in Hong Kong, it is more convenient for people to throw their rubbish. In Taiwan, there are just a few rubbish bins on the streets. I always hold the rubbish on my hands and have to walk for a long distance to throw the rubbish.
Lastly, most of the Hong Kong people almost follow the procedures. They won't jump the queue when they are getting on the bus. If someone jumps a queue, others will stare at them or complain about what they do. Finally, they will feel embarrassed. However, people always jump queues in Taiwan. If you stare at them or put a blame on them, they may hit you. As Taiwan's legal system is worse than that in Hong Kong, people in Taiwan are generally rude.
