Last summer, I had a job as a salesgirl in a fashion chain store. I was very excited at the beginning because I thought I could dress fashionably every day and buy outfits in a lower price. These, undoubtedly, are every girl’s dreams. Unfortunately, I found that I had to wear uniform on the first day of my job. Also, I had lots of work to do such as tidying up the wareroom, ironing the clothes, folding and hanging them. I thought my summer holidays were ruined.
Nevertheless, the worst thing of working in a boutique was to serve the fussy and irksome customers. Once, I saw a woman in a rose pink dress with a sharp orange scarf. She entered the store wearing 3 inches black high heels. A word ‘TERRIBLE’ appeared in my mind immediately. Of course, I, the junior staff, had to serve her while all the other salesgirls disappeared suddenly. I came to her and asked what she wanted with a very professional attitude.
‘A junior? When did the store start to hire teens? Anyway, what’s new today?’.
I immediately took her a stylish black dress with a fine cutting and said, ‘this is one of the latest outfits. And the cutting could make you look slimmer and more gorgeous!’
‘Then, you mean I’m fat now? Um… How dare you take me this boring dress and judge my body size in this way?’
‘OK… I’m sorry… Or maybe you can try this dress?’
I took her another dress in fluorescent colour with some ruffles. It was definitely not for her age. ‘This is of the newest European trend. Even Agyness Deyu wore it!’ I said. ‘It fits you very much since you’re so Chic and Unique!’ I said.
‘Um… It seems nice…Fine…I want this,’ said the lady.
‘Yeah! I finally had my very first customer!’ I thought.
Then I rushed to the wareroom quickly and happily to find a new one for the lady. I had to make sure she did not have to wait for too long. However, my happiness made me blind. I fell on the shelf with thousands of clothes on it and all of them fell on my head. I was totally buried by the clothes.
‘Oh my goodness…’ I thought.
But I did not have time to deal with the fallen clothes so when I found what I needed, I gave it to the woman and she bought it and then left the store. I was happy that I finally made a deal and the customer was such a fussy woman. I might be able to flaunt in front of those senior salesgirls.
‘You! Come and tidy it. Otherwise you can’t leave!’ A voice came out from my back. Oh my goodness again… And it was already 4:30 p.m..
I guess studying is more suitable for me than being a salesgirl.
