One day Alexander came in with a peculiar bottle. He poured some of the contents into a glass of water that was on the teacher’s desk and went back to his seat as usual.
Halfway through the lesson, Mr Ip, our History teacher, took a sip of the water. Right in front of everybody’s eyes, he became invisible as he moved about! At that moment, all students were shocked including Alexander, who poured something into a glass of water that was on the teacher's desk. He couldn’t explain why Mr Ip would be invisible after taking a sip of the water during lessons. The water didn't affect his clothes and spectacles, so his clothes and spectacles danced as he moved about.
We didn't know what we should and we could do. Suddenly, we all noticed one thing. A representative of HK Education Bureau was coming to visit our lesson. It was very urgent, because the representative would come the next lesson, which was about 20 minutes later. I rushed to Alexander immediately.
'Why are you shocked? We all know that it’s you who do this!' I asked.
'I don't know! When I came to school this morning, someone gave me money and asked me to do this. As all of you know, my family is very poor. Therefore, I took the money and … But I really had no idea that it would be like this.'
We were all silent at the moment. Mr Ip said, 'I know what I should do now. Monitor, please get a mask from the office and also take the sunglasses from my seat? And you Peter, could you lend me your gloves? Thank you.'
Fortunately, we could prepare all the things before the representative came. When she came in, she was shocked too.
'Well, I didn't know that I need to visit a mummy's lessons. Are you acting Michael Jackson?' the representative asked
'You are quite funny, miss, I dressed like this due to some accident. My face was burnt when I cooked last week. I will be fine after a few weeks, as the doctor said. I’m afraid that my face will scare you and my students. That’s why I dress like this.' Mr Ip replied calmly.
Finally, the lesson was very smooth. After the lesson, the representative gave us very good comments. She praised that we were clever and active and we made a good impression on her and she said goodbye to us. But when she was leaving, she beamed and told Mr Ip, 'Trust me , you will be fine after today.'
Suddenly, we realized who had played the trick on Mr Ip. But why did he do that? Who knows?
