Young Post meets J.K. Rowling, who is one of the most well-known writers in the world. She has published ‘J.K. Rowling’ series in different countries.
Requirements
You need to be creative since you have to attract your readers by setting interesting backgrounds, creating attractive characters and coming up with clever plots for your stories.
You should be sensitive to the surrounding. As a writer, the high sensitivity to the people and things around you which can be good sources of inspiration for writing can surely help you succeed.
You should show great perseverance in writing since a lot of time is needed for the process of writing and publishing books. If you do not plan your time well or give up easily, it is hard for you to enjoy the fun and success of being a writer.
Having good writing skills is an advantage as it helps you to convey your messages and present your stories well and clearly to your readers. According to Rowling, it makes a big difference if you can let readers feel surprised at your story’s plot when they are reading your book. Of course, a keen interest in writing and the passion for creating your own masterpieces are crucial.
Qualifications
No special academic qualification is needed if you want to be a writer. All you just need is a pen or a computer. And you just need to enjoy the process of writing. However, university education in languages and literature may be of good help to you.
Work prospects
How much you can earn depends on whether you can find a publisher who realizes and recognizes your talent. Rowling said she had tried at least ten times to find a publisher to publish her first book. And she felt shocked when she knew her book ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’ had sold 9 million copies all around the world. Now Rowling has already finished the whole series of ‘Harry Potter’, which has made her really famous.
Rowling’s work
On average, Rowling wrote for five to six hours a day when she was writing those books. But there were no rules: she could write twelve hours on one day but not even one line on the other.
For now, Rowling is writing her new book, but as she has gained more experience, her new book will target at adult readers.
