David fell in love with Amy the first day he saw her. Coincidentally, their class teacher arranged them to sit together. Having sat with Amy for a month, David, who was quiet and shy, finally mustered up his courage to invite Amy to go to the cinema with him on Saturday evening. Amy promised him blithely that she would go out with him.
On Saturday morning, Amy got up early and went to a fashion house in Tsim Sha Tsiu to buy a tight-fitting T-shirt and a pair of leggings with many shiny beads. She then went to a hair salon and told the hairstylist to use some gel to create tiny spikes on her hair. When she arrived home, she immediately changed her clothes, took out her purse and wore her favourite brown long boots. Before leaving home, she checked her outfit carefully, put on some make-up and wore a pair of earrings which she had never worn at school.
That evening, David arrived early, wearing his most favourite T-shirt and jeans. He stood in front of the small coffee shop beside the cinema, waiting for Amy with joy. However, having waited for an hour, he still could not see Amy and the film was already on show. He tried to find Amy in the cinema but still could not spot her. He had thought of calling Amy but he was too shy to do it. So he left disappointedly.
On Monday, when they were back to school, Amy queried why she couldn’t see David on Saturday. He replied with confusion. “I went to the cinema. I had waited you for an hour at the coffee shop, but what I could see was only a woman with overstated clothing and hairstyle. She really made my hair stand on end, but I don’t think you were that woman, right?”
