Hello! I am the academic leader, Bobby Chu from 4D. I am glad to be with all of you today to share my F.3 experiences on studying. Well, F.3 is absolutely different from F.1 to F.2. Feeling stressed is normal in F.3 as your competitions with your friends are fierce. Yet I want to tell you three extremely important things that you should be aware of in F.3 today. That’s it. No big deal. Just three recommendations.

The first suggestion is about how to study smart. At first, I would like to ask you a few questions. Have you ever copied your classmates’ homework in F.1 and F.2? I’m pretty sure you have done it. But you should quit your bad habit from now on. A smart student will never copy others’ homework, including their common mistakes in their work. I understand that your workload is very heavy every school day. I have gone through this tough phase too. There is no excuse for copying your friends’ homework. More than that, a wise student will spend their time in the holiday properly to do revision and try their best to do homework. Computer games and TV programmes are very attractive. If you don’t utilize your time for revision, you will do poorly in exams. Trust me! Be self-disciplined and do sacrifice your playing time. Never waste your precious time. Stop copying homework and waste your weekend.

The second suggestion is about how to study properly. Time management is vital and it is better to learn how to balance the time between studying and participating in extra-curricular activities. When I was in F.3, I was depressed because it was unavoidable for me to study ten subjects. How could I study them well? I asked myself. I have found that setting up a timetable is a feasible solution eventually. Perhaps you think that planning a timetable is time consuming. You can make good use of your ‘walking time’, ‘toilet time’ and even your ‘daydreaming time’ for planning. Without a clear timetable, you will lose your focus and fail to manage your time properly. Thus, it is the key to learning.

The last suggestion is that you have to learn the way to balance your time between studying and having extra-curricular activities. Don’t immerse yourself in your study only and ignore your activities. Learning is not limited to the pursuit of a good result in the exam. Joining an appropriate number of activities can enrich your life experience by learning specific skills which you can’t learn from school. Actually, balancing your time is not as impossible as you imagine. You just need to be self-disciplined. In F.1 and F.2, we had plenty of leisure time. It was not necessary for us to balance our time. But you are now in F.3. Balancing your time is essential in helping you to face the ten subjects. However, you should shorten your time on playing games, either computer or sports games, and activities and spend more time on revision instead. That’s it. It should be easy for you.

The third suggestion is about how to stay healthy and relaxed.  Do all of you agree that the workload in F.3 is very heavy? Never mind, watching TV is a good medicine to ‘cure’ your ‘illness’. Keep an eye on the amount of time you have spent on watching TV. No more than 30 minutes. Then it is prefect and you can relax your mind. By the way, don’t sleep too late. Sleep before 12 o’clock. Having a healthy body is crucial.

At last, remember to stop copying homework, do revision frequently, set up a timetable, balance your time properly and sleep early.

The more effort you pay, the easier the school life in F.3 will be.
Thank you very much.
