I am honored to be here to talk about studying. Allow me to introduce myself. I’m Sharon Chan, this year’s academic leader and also a form four student. As I was a form three student last year, I understand that you are worried if you can handle ten subjects well. Today I want to tell you three tips. That’s it. No big deal. Just three useful tips.
Undeniably, F.3 life is tiring and difficult. The learning life is different from F.1 and F.2’s. There are ten subjects. You need to handle them properly. There is also subject selection at the end of F.3. Difficult? Yes! But don’t worry. Following my tips can help all of you!
The first tip is about having a full breakfast. Having a breakfast is a ‘must’ in the morning every day. You will be energetic and you can have good spirit at school. Therefore you will not sleep or feel tired easily in class. Let me share my experience with all of you. In my early F.3 life, I was exhausted every night after doing homework. I slept for only seven hours and got up at 7:30a.m.. I did not have breakfast every day. Therefore I always felt tired in class and had not got enough energy to pay attention in class. Not only did I feel tired in class, being unable to pay attention in the lesson, but I also felt dizzy, having a feeling of discomfort. Therefore I suggest all of you have a full breakfast every morning before school.
The second tip is about preparation. Do all of you do lesson preparation? If yes, please raise your hand! Well, preparation is a key element to study smart. Not only should you pay attention to teachers, but you should also have preparation at home. You can have an impression of the topic and a brief concept and information during preparation. You will feel less frustrated in class. Of course, it is impossible to pay much time to prepare for the lessons, but if you spend I hour a day, you will have a better understanding of what is going to be taught. Although it is an awful medicine, I guess every patient needs it.
The third tip is about time management. Extra- curricular activities and academic results are highly prioritized in our life. You need to get great results in both domains to get into universities. A timetable is useful. You list your activities and the subjects you need to revise and set a time limit for yourself to do all the things efficiently. Also you are recommended to have some leisure time to enjoy your own entertainment, for example, computer games, basketball and so on. A good timetable should involve
both studying and entertainment. For me, I have a timetable every day. I spend two hours on revising materials, two hours on extra-curricular activities and one hour on surfing the Internet. I think studying and taking a rest are important. Don’t keep on studying or keep on playing. Balance your time between them.
To sum up, the three tips are important for you to follow: having a good breakfast, doing a preparation and having a good time management. I am sure that they can help you study smart and more efficiently. Thank you for bearing with me. I hope all of you can choose your favourite subject finally. Best wishes to all of you!
