Carmel Secondary School’s 47th annual sports day was held on October 10 and October 12. The Kowloon Tsai Sports Ground was filled with excitement and happiness of the students. It wasn’t a morning with good weather, that’s why Mr. Kung, our principal said something meaningful in the opening speech. He said that the sports day was a challenge for us to hold on even if there’s bad weather.
As time passed by, the sun got warmer, the sky got clearer and the students at the spectators’ stand got even more crowded. The participants tried their very best in the events to earn points for their houses, the workers were going everywhere to make sure everything was done properly. The cheering teams were chanting their house slogans and kept cheering for their houses. You could feel the atmosphere by just sitting at the spectators’ stand.
The most exciting event was the Teacher-Student Relay. It was memorable because even though it was raining, the teachers were still participating and the teachers of Loyalty House won!
There was one record breaker and that was Wong Pui Ling from Loyalty House. She broke her own record in the girls’ grade B long jump, the distance was 5.46 meters!
I think the only word to sum up my Sports Day was ‘unforgettable’ because of the exciting events, the competitive atmosphere and the rainy weather. The most memorable and valuable lesson I learnt is to hold on. And I hope other people will agree too!
