Today is a big day. Last night, I really couldn’t fall asleep. I couldn’t stop myself from thinking about what it would be like and how to spend this wonderful day with one of my favourite singers, Elton John. I was very lucky to win the music competition held by a music magazine this month, and the prize was to have a day spend with Elton John when he is holding a concert. It’s been ages since he last held his concert here. Luckily, this time he is going to hold a concert in Hong Kong and I had a chance to spend a day with him in spite of his short trip to Hong Kong.
I first met him at the entrance of the hotel. He was wearing a pair of sunglasses as usual. He had been aged. However, it didn’t stop me from loving him and his music. We had a great breakfast at the hotel where he stayed in. He was so nice and approachable since he was a well-known English singer. We talked about our lives and also what he was going to do during the concert tonight.
After a wonderful meal, he brought me to the place where the concert would be held. Then I spent the whole afternoon there watching him do the rehearsal. Although he was very old, he seemed so energetic and so devoted to his job. During the rehearsal, he changed many clothes and sang many wonderful songs, such as ‘Your Song’, ‘Candle in the Wind’ and ‘This Train Don’t Stop Here Anymore’, which is one of my favourite songs. After the rehearsal, we went to have our dinner at a glamourous restaurant. He asked me which song of his is my favourite song. ‘Can You Feel the Love Tonight!’ I shouted immediately. Although it is an old song that he sang for the film ‘Lion King’, produced by Disney, it was the English song that I first listened to and the song that made him my favourite singer.
After dinner, we went back to the stage and the concert was about to start. After I said goodbye to him on the backstage, I went back to my seat. Thank the magazine for giving a front row seat.
The concert started with Elton sitting in front of the piano and singing ‘Original Sin’. Everything just went smoothly. I quite enjoyed the concert. Suddenly, he stopped. Everyone remained silent. When I looked around and tried to figure out what happened, I saw Elton stood right in front of me. He invited me to join him to end the concert by singing ‘Can You Feel the Love Tonight’ with him. I was so surprised and excited. It was my dream to sing with him. However, I didn’t want to ruin his show. Therefore, I went panic and was very nervous. I am sure that at that time my face went red like an apple. While I was still thinking whether I should go up to the stage, he told me to be confident and his words gave me support. Therefore, I went up with him. Luckily, everything went great. The show ended with a great round of applause.
After the show, we went back to his hotel and the whole day ended. Time flied. It seemed that we just met an hour ago. I really didn’t want to say goodbye to such a great and nice singer. He gave me a CD with his autograph when we said goodbye to each other. Then he went back to his room.
After I returned home with the unforgettable memory, I opened the CD and played it. It was the moment when we sang in the concert!
