How come things always go wrong? My best friend Brown mistakenly believed that I was the one who told the teacher that he forgot his homework, which made him stay for an extra hour of detention. ‘One of the worst decisions I’ve made is to be your friend!’ Brown shouted with his eyes staring at me. I knew John did it, but, just let it be.
I left the school in a bad mood. I went to the shopping mall, walked past different shops and strolled in the park. Finally, I reached home.
When I opened the door, I found that my home was strangely quiet. It should be quieter than usual since mum and dad were having a trip to Denmark, but where was my little brother Rex? He always greeted me when I got back.
After some time, I heard footsteps from upstairs. Although the footsteps were so distant, I could still hear them. I staggered upstairs and soon discovered that the sound came from my bedroom. I opened the door slowly and found that there should be something huge under my quilt. ‘It must be Rex.’ I thought. I pulled the quilt and, ‘Oh, it is my favorite teddy bear Forever Friends.’ I have been long waiting for one in such a big size.
Rex rolled out under the bed slowly, and said “Happy birthday!” I couldn’t respond to him immediately because it was so surprising. I asked him if he bought me the teddy bear and he gave me a more surprising answer, ‘I’m not the one who bought it.’
While I was puzzling over who bought it, someone knocked on the door. I walked downstairs to check it out. To my disappointment, no one was there. When I was about to close the door, a hand stopped it. Suddenly, my friends turned in and sang a birthday song to me, and I noticed Brown was there too.
Brown stepped out and gave a hug to me saying, ‘I’m sorry for having mistaken you as the one who told the teacher. And I hope that you can forgive me. I really hope we can be the present that I gave you Forever Friends.’
Today was really my ‘big’ day. I had hit rock bottom and reached the sky. I am sure that Brown will be my best friend forever. By the way, the funniest thing was that they remembered my birthday wrongly! It should be 15th June instead of 16th May, but – let it be!
