Nowadays, writing blogs has become a mania among young people. However, is this trend good or bad? In this article, I would discuss why young people love writing blogs, and the pros and cons of such trend.
Most teenagers enjoy writing blogs not because of the magic of doing such typing and thinking, but in most cases, it is an effective way to express their personal feelings on the day, and, at the same time, they can know what their friends are thinking. In other words, writing blogs can simultaneously reveal their internal feelings to their friends, and uncover what others’ internal feelings are. These are the secret magic of writing blogs.
Writing blogs does have numerous advantages. One of the good points is that writers can have a convenient and safe platform for communication. Even without face-to-face interaction, bloggers can communicate with others and share their own feelings. This not only replaces the inconvenience of talking on the phone, but also encourages shy people to share their own thoughts without speaking a single word. Writers can choose how they write, what to write, when to write, and how long to write. These all help them communicate more effectively.
Also, with the curiosity of knowing what other people have written, young people are often eager to read others’, especially their friends’, blogs. Some of them may even leave messages or reply to the blogs, which enhances communication, and thus interaction with the group of other young people. This prepares teenagers to socialize with others in society.
However, this mania also brings negative consequences towards teenagers’ psychological development. Some youngsters may become too dedicated to writing blogs to the extent that they insist on doing so on a regular basis. This may affect their academic performance and relationship with their family, as they tend to save all the time for writing blogs. This hampers young people’s all-round development.
Moreover, it is worrying that teenagers may reveal too much personal information on their blog. Lacking the awareness on personal safety and privacy, teenagers often write blogs without being cautious of what they reveal there. If they leak too much personal information, their information may be stolen or even illegally used by other viewers. This poses too much danger to the writers.
In conclusion, writing blogs may bring about positive effects if teenagers know how to self-control and self-protect. It is wise spending time on something more important and wholesome before leisurely writing blogs otherwise.
