The 51st Sports Day of Carmel Secondary School 1D Li Zerong Jason
On 9th and 14th of March, Carmel Secondary School held its 51st annual Sports Day at the Kowloon Tsai Sports Ground. The principal, Ms Ng, made the opening speech. She shared about her sport experience to encourage students to play more sports. When she was young, she used to be keen on hockey. Unfortunately, after an accident in a match, one of her legs got hurt and she couldn’t play it anymore. However, when she talked about it now, she didn’t feel upset as she had already experienced and learnt a lot in the process. Even now she insists on doing exercise and reminded the students to do so.
One of the highlights this year was the Teachers’ Self-challenge Run. All the students were on their feet shouting loudly to cheer for their teachers, who ran for 400m, 800m or 1500m.
Virtue House became the Overall Champion and also got the Cheering Award because of their united spirit and catchy slogans, which aroused the house members’ feelings. Intellect House was the First Runner-up and one of their female athletes broke the record of a track event.
