Book Title: The Call of The Wild
Author: Jack London
Buck never read newspaper. If he did, he would know much more about wars, cases and sleighs, and knew his future.
This book is called ‘The Call of The Wild’ written by the famous writer Jack London. Buck was a cross-breed dog, which is the main character of the book. The upper lines are just a summary of the beginning and how his life changed.
Buck was kidnapped from the judge’s garden and was treated like a fool for the first time ever. He was becoming more angry and fierce. His life was like destroyed by these unknown, cruel men.
After days, he was taken to a market and sold by some men. He was bought by a man called Parrult and began his first new job. He was fairly treated, but he had too many things to learn and fear. There were dogs teasing, wolves attacking him and there was no way to sleep in the snow. He learnt fast however and became braver, stronger and more experienced day by day. They had a mission though, which was to use the sleigh to send letters to Canada. Their treatment was worsening and Buck had another new life at the moment he escaped from the suffering.
He was treated like a friend and he liked the new friendly master. The man was trying to use Buck to pull a ton of things to gain a huge prize. Buck was being stronger even than before, and he did the pulling job perfectly to gain the prize for his master.
The scene flipped back into the woods again. Buck and his master were gone. Buck fought the wolves and had been the leader of them. His new life has begun.
This book was really amazing and exciting. It talked about Buck’s growth in mental and the ending was surprising. NO one could ever imagine that a dog could be the leader of wolves. And this book had a brilliant description of the actions of the kidnappers.
At the time that the book was written, the black job was common but illegal. Jack is like showing the dark side of society. One more thing that is new, is the author’s way to describe the emotion of Buck. It is not simply expressed with adjectives, but with phrases like ‘his blood shot eyes’, which is helpful even without photos or pictures. Buck’s anger can still easily be felt by the words like ‘growing stronger’ and ‘fiercely’.
The book was really cool in describing dogs, but there are some illogical things. For example, ‘Buck pulled a ton of things on a sleigh’ and ‘the leader of the wolves couldn’t defeat Buck’. If it was like ‘Buck pulled the sleigh slowly and heavily with three hundred kilograms of goods’. And ‘the leader of the wolves was injured, and Buck likewise.’, it would be more sensible in my opinion. But clearly, the small problems didn’t affect the awesomeness and excitement of the book.
This book is really interesting and fantastic that when someone read it at different time, you will have different feelings. It is a real good-quality book which lets readers feel differently every time. The adults can also feel the reality of both the dark and bright sides in society and the old man can read it as an old-life memory.
I highly recommend this book to people whoever they are. This book can be an awesome guide of society, teaching us to be brave, stay strong, do self-improving and fight for yourself. These elements are the core of this book and also what people need in their lives. This can be concluded in three words, ‘Be like Buck’.
If everyone can be like Buck, the world will be full of brave people.
