Some lament the fact that Hong Kong seems now being in chaos recently with lots of protests for different issues on the streets. Some teenagers even think that Hong Kong is a hard place to live, due to the problems, for instance, the widening wealth gap, the increasing competition for the university places and the incompetence of the government. The phenomena escalate their disgruntlement towards our city. In fact, Hong Kong has got lots of wonders for the teenagers to appreciate and here are some examples.
First of all, the 12-year free primary and secondary education is one of the most amazing wonders that all civilians from the world want to enjoy. Education is essential to equipping a person. Without knowledge, no future is promised. In fact, many places in the world like Dubai and Indonesia, do not provide free education, and not all children there can receive education. Hong Kong is definitely one of the few places where free and high quality education is provided. How can’t we be grateful for this?
Hong Kong is also one of the most prosperous international cities, so we, teenagers, can gain lots of different opportunities in our career, after finishing studying. Hong Kong is a very good stepping stone, which enables teenagers to develop themselves in diverse directions. After graduation, you may join a transnational company, which is attracted by Hong Kong’s brilliant business environment. So in fact, the starting line of Hong Kong’s teenagers is much more favourable when compared with the counterparts worldwide. Think about it, can the mainland students lacking the global exposure join an international company, and further develop themselves as global workers with outstanding performances as easily as Hong Kong teens? Hardly the case!
Apart from education and opportunities, Hong Kong’s special political status is also a treasure we should cherish. Hong Kong is a special administrated city, which is not heavily bounded by the rules of China. This provides lots of freedom to teenagers in Hong Kong to fulfill their dreams, express their views and concerns and they are able to pave their way towards future success in a relatively easier and faster way. Hong Kong is a heaven full of blessings, where dreams can come true. Teens chase dreams, don’t they?
Hong Kong is a special place where many teenagers are actually blessed with lots of wonders, providing many precious opportunities for teenagers to equip themselves and discover the new, challenging world. How can we not love it?
