Small-class Teaching

Dear Editor,

I am writing to express my concern about the policy of small-class teaching that is proposed by some people.

Firstly, small-class teaching can let students learn more. This is because when there are fewer students in class, students can have more chances to express themselves. For example, they can have more chances to answer questions in class or present their opinion. Also, teachers can give more individual attention to students too.

Secondly, small-class teaching can let teachers care more about students. Teachers can mark less homework and have less work as there are fewer students. So they can have more time to care about and give individual care to students who need help. So the relationship between teachers and students will become even better and closer, this can let teachers help students to have a whole-person development.

Thirdly, all schools in Hong Kong can benefit. Small-class teaching can save some schools which are to be closed. Having more students can help the schools survive. Also, when having more schools, more teachers are needed. So this will provide more jobs to teachers.

However, some may argue that small-class teaching needs a large amount of resources and it is wasting public money. But I don’t agree, because education is priceless and is valuable for students. It is worth spending more money on it as it can be beneficial to our whole society. So I think spending money on education is worthwhile.

In conclusion, small-class teaching is necessary in Hong Kong because it is good for students, teachers and schools. Small-class teaching is really important to Hong Kong.

Yours faithfully,
