Carmel Secondary School’s 48th Annual Sports Day was held at Kowloon Tsai Sports Ground on 4 and 5 October 2012.
This year, we started with a special moment. Our principal, Mr. Kung Kam Tim, led us to pay a three-minute silent tribute with the flag at half mast to those who were injured and killed in the LammaIsland boat accident. After that, our honorable guest, Mr. Leung Ming Hon, who was our former P.E. teacher gave us a speech. He told us winning or losing was not the most important and doing sports was to challenge ourselves. We would like to thank him for his inspiring speech.
There are four houses in Carmel. They are Loyalty, Virtue, Trust and Intellect. They all tried to do their best to win the prizes. The cheering teams chanted slogans loudly and hit the inflatable cheering sticks hard. They also donned t-shirts of different colours that represented their houses. It was really fun!
Wong Pui Ling from 4D broke the school records in girls’ grade B 100m sprint and softball. She did amazingly well. The overall champion was Loyalty House and Virtue House was awarded the prize for the Cheering Competition.
At the closing ceremony, our supervisor, Dr. Kwan Kai Cho made a speech. He encouraged us to do more exercise to keep ourselves healthy and strong.
We had an exciting and wonderful Sports Day. Everybody enjoyed themselves and had a valuable lesson on sportsmanship.
